Joanne, Tarnya and Nicky are trained nurses with additional qualifications that allow them to work alongside the doctors to assess and treat patients with minor and acute illness. You may be offered an appointment with Joanne, Tarnya or Nicky if you ring for an urgent appointment, they will examine you if needed and diagnose your problem. They can also prescribe any medication you may need. Nicky also specialises in frailty identifying and targeting frail patients to ensure they have proactive care.

Alison, Jess and Faye are specially trained in chronic disease management so that they can provide comprehensive care for those suffering from diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease, etc. They also hold clinics for childhood immunisations,cardiovascular risk, travel vaccinations, cervical smears, over 75 screening etc. Please ask at reception for an appointment with our practice nurse.

The team are supported by Wendy and Debra who have undergone special training so that they can take bloods, blood pressures, perform ECGs and Spirometry etc. Debra has undergone further training to take on more specialised tasks such as smears etc.

The Practice Manager is responsible for the organisation of the practice. If you have any suggestions or complaints please ask to speak to her.
The practice team have an important job and endeavour to deal with your queries, appointments, repeat prescriptions etc. as efficiently as possible. They have enquiries and calls coming from every direction, so please be patient. On occasions the receptionists may need to ask you a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries in order that we can help you in the most appropriate way.
We are very busy and always try to serve with a smile. Sometimes the staff ask you questions, which seem silly or even annoying, but please be patient with them since these questions have a reason behind them.
There are receptionists available either face to face or over the telephone from 8.0 am until 6.0 pm Monday to Friday.
Practice staff are bound by the same confidentiality rules as Doctors.
Our Sunderland Community Team
District Nurses
The District Nurses see housebound patients at home and work in the Health Centre Treatment room doing dressings, taking bloods, ear syringing, measuring blood pressures and giving injections. They work with the Practice in providing nursing care, advice and support to patients too ill to attend the surgery.
Health Visitor
Sue Martin is the health visitor attached to our practice. She works alongside our practice team to provide comprehensive to all children from birth to 5 years of age.
District Midwife
Full ante-natal care services are available at the surgery. The midwife holds weekly clinics but can also visit you at home (if necessary). Please ask at reception for details.
Dietician
The Dietician is employed by Sunderland City Hospitals. She holds clinics in the health centre giving specific dietary advice.
Smoking Cessation
The practice encourages patients to stop smoking and will signpost you to the available clinics. Please ask at reception if you are considering stopping smoking.
Sick Children
Telephone: 0191 5210210. We will endeavour to see children under 10 years of age as soon as possible if brought to the surgery. If you are in any doubt about bringing your child, please ring to speak to the doctor.
Chiropodist
The chiropodist is based in the health centre and works alongside the practice team.
